Change of Plans.......

so
we were going to be home for Christmas...
and at Simoney's for New Years...

but now we're not.

We're staying a month longer.
And that is ok.
I am happy-sad.

Happy for a new experience
(a winter wonderland - fingers crossed - it could happen!)
Sad to not be heading to my sisters for breakfast that morning, my brothers for lunch and then the almost-last-minute-destination-often-ours-cause-no-one-said-they-wanted-to place
for the other side.
(sad to not hear my dad tell the same story for the umpteenth time at the Christmas lunch even though we're all telling him we've heard it a million times before..... he'll soldier on until his story has been told. again.all Smiths will roll their eyes. Me twice.).
Someone will have to video tape.

Happy because it means MJ won't need to love and leave us there to fly back here for important work stuff.
Christmas is not a public holiday here: sad
Staying together : happy.

Happy to be sharing Christmas with some friends here too.
It will be an international spread I'm sure....

(that's right, I did).
I plan on perfecting 'The Pav'..
because it's unheard of....
though it will mean I'll need to fork out for an electric beater.

And as my friend said, I will have a lot of lights to choose from here...
so plan A: light up the outside of the house so that the family can see us from downunder.

So.
I roll with change.
Summer will be different.
Freezing cold and then in mid-Jan..... I will put on a new special pair of sunnies because the blue skies of NZ are bound to blind me.
It's been a while since we've seen a brilliant blue.

(still trying to figure this one out...)

Hiya
For some bizarre reason ever since I found out you were heading to China I just knew you'd be staying longer than first anticipated. Weird huh!
Can't believe you ate bugs!

Bugs - ewwwwww!
Christmas in China - I know it won't be what you're used to but I'm sure you will make it magical and special and pretty darn amazing! The great thing about Christmases away from home is that they come back to being all about Jesus and not so much about the eating and drinking and presents. Love to you all, Sx

ha, funny, but like Widge I actually thought that you'd end up there a bit longer too!
Just as well Mr G HADN'T booked Sandy Bay YET, so we will aim for feb/march, no worries.
Of course New years WON'T be the same without you :(
BUT its just an excuse for an extra "Welcome home Gail" party... you know you wantt to!!
I'll save some fireworks... and some sky lanterns...

oh and yeah, I am convinced you posed for the photo and chucked the bugs in the rubbish! xxx

U may be staying longer, then coming home....but for how long?....my bet is you lot will be going back again. once China is in the blood, its just too hard to let go.
Impressed with the bug eating, when are you going to eat snake? I want to see that one
